TO THINK OUTSIDE
To explain The Box’s underlying concept it is necessary to take a dive into the past.
In the ‘50 Riccione was experiencing a remarkable tourist boom. A lively city which made natural features such as sea and beach and human ones, hospitality and entrepreneurial abilities, the key elements of its success.
This was the period when Nevada Hotel was built, a small family-run lodge “two steps from the sea” (sorry we had to write it somewhere;) and next Viale Ceccarini.
Despite 60 years have now gone, by a strange destiny game we managed to recover online a 1958 postcard where we can marvel at its gracious simplicity.

SO FAR, THIS STORY MIGHT SEEM IDENTICAL TO THOSE OF ANY OTHER HOTEL ALONG THE RIVIERA. HOWEVER IN 2006, THIS SMALL LODGE WAS ACQUIRED BY AN IMPORTANT FASHION LABEL AND CONVERTED INTO SIXTY HOTEL, ONE OF ITALY’S VERY FIRST AND MOST FUTURISTIC DESIGN HOTELS.
30 INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS WERE INVITED TO DECORATE THE HOTEL’S 40 BEDROOMS AND COMMUNAL AREAS. THEY USED STRIKING COLORS AND ITEMS OF FURNITURE FROM BRANDS SUCH AS KNOLL, MOROSO, ARTEMIDE, FRITZ HANSEN AND PAOLA LENTI. A MODERN MIX WHICH MADE IT A FUTURISTIC AND CUTTING-EDGE ACCOMMODATION FACILITY.
HOWEVER GLORY AND SUCCESS LASTED LITTLE AS A SERIES OF ACCIDENTS LED THE HOTEL TO SHUT DOWN AFTER JUST 3 YEARS AND SLIDE INTO OBLIVION UNTIL 2017 WHEN THE TWO BUSINESS PARTNERS OF HOSPITALITY MOOD DECIDED TO BUY IT AND BRING IT BACK TO LIFE.

Who we are
We come at the end of this story.A couple both in life and work with different career backgrounds and experiences who share the same passion: Hospitality.
The love for world of hospitality made us meet in 2008 and since then we handled together several projects working as consultants
A long path made of many worth-telling stages: the overhaul of already existing properties, development of new concepts, our wedding in our beloved New York and even the opening of the first Christmas-theme hotel.
Concept
Thinking out of the box.This is the underlying principle that led us, in 2017, to open an out-of-ordinary hotel across the Riviera Romagnola.
The Box was indie born out of our desire to offer something wholly new and unheard-of. There are no half or full board plan, guests can eat whenever they want. There are no mini clubs or entertainment, here you will live “like a local”. There are no triple or quadruple bedrooms but Cozy, Cute, Fancy and Unique rooms according to everyone’s mood.
There is no modern furniture, just unique design objects to give you travel a whole different look.
